Ho’omana, Ho’omau, Holomua
As we embark upon a new year and new semester, I want to share three important values that I believe can impact how much we learn, accomplish and grow this year: Ho’omana, Ho’omau and Holomua: Empower, Persevere
and Go Forward.
Each of us has the capacity to be successful. It starts with believing in ourselves and having the courage to learn new things - even if it's hard. The more we do, the more we learn and the better we become. It’s not about giving up or quitting but picking ourselves up and trying again until we get better.
I hope you know how proud I am of all of you! You are adapting and figuring out how to be the best students in school even with the changes last year. Many of you are showing up to class on time, completing your work and participating in class discussions. Many of you are communicating with your teacher and asking for help when you need it. Please continue to do these things. Let’s make this quarter the best one yet!
Mālama Pono,

U‘ilani Kaitoku, Po‘okumu

WHAT WE DO: Guidance and counseling services are provided for the purpose
of assisting students with their educational, personal-social adjustments, and
progress. This service is an integral part of the total school program. Specific areas addressed are crisis intervention, counseling (helping students with coping strategies, make decisions and solve problems), and guidance activities
such as testing, and career information. Examples of situations where a counselor might be involved with students include:
● When a student has personal concerns or important decisions to make and needs to know more about alternatives and possible consequences.
● When a student wants some help in solving a problem with a teacher or
a parent.
● When a student is concerned about drugs, alcohol, and related issues.
● When a student thinks he/she may need help or coordination by outside agencies, such as Social Services.
● When a student would like career guidance or be part of a counseling group.
● When a student’s parents want to be constructively involved (having a
conference with a counselor and/or teachers).
